Our Mission
We connect the North Sea to today’s energy system—and to the energy system of the future.
NGT manages critical energy infrastructure for the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation and handling of energy from the North Sea to shore.
Today, our infrastructure plays a key role in the transportation of Dutch offshore natural gas. At the same time, we’re looking ahead. We aim to use our existing pipelines, platforms, and onshore facilities responsibly for as long as possible and, where feasible, adapt them for new applications, such as the transportation of hydrogen and CO₂.
In this way, we contribute to today’s security of supply and to a future-proof energy system.
Our Vision
Existing infrastructure as the foundation for the energy system of the future
The North Sea remains of strategic importance for the energy supply of the Netherlands and Northwest Europe. However, the way we produce, transport, and use energy is undergoing a fundamental transformation.
We believe that existing energy infrastructure can continue to play an important role in this transition.
By continuing to use infrastructure safely, connecting it intelligently, and repurposing it where possible, we can limit new investments, reduce societal costs, and accelerate the development of new energy chains.
That is why we look beyond the original function of our assets. We view NGT as a long-term manager of strategic energy infrastructure, with a responsibility that extends beyond a single energy carrier.
Our ambition is clear: NGT aims to ensure that the infrastructure that is essential to our energy supply today remains valuable to the energy system of the future wherever possible.
